Four Additional Danville Police Officers, One New Danville Firefighter Sworn In by Mayor Williams

In front of a packed City Council Chambers on Wednesday morning, August 30th; four new Danville Probationary Police Officers and one new Danville Probationary Firefighter were sworn in by Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr.

The four new probationary police officers are Cade Howie, Andrew Sentelle, Caleb Stephenson, and Savannah Lackey. The will begin training, up to 17 weeks, at the Illinois State Police Academy starting Tuesday, September 5th.

Once training is complete, Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates will have 69 officers on the force, one shy of his goal of 70.

AUDIO: I think every group that we hire, even though they’re different, they all bring different assets that we can cultivate into serving the community well. I feel good about this group. Like I said, this is a commitment that they’re putting in for to serve the community, and we’ll teach them how.

Also during the program, Clayton J. Bell was sworn in as a probationary firefighter. Danville Fire Chief Aaron Marcott said it was wonderful to have such a packed crowd of active police officers and firefighters welcoming in the new people, and most likely remembering their early days as well.

Mayor Rickey Williams Jr says it is always wonderful to have local residents who want to serve the community.

Mayor Williams says the community will continue to support their law enforcement and their first responders.
